Dr. Rohit Loomba, Professor of Medicine with tenure and Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UC San Diego, serves as Founding Director of the UCSD MASLD Research Center. An internationally recognized thought leader in MASH translational research, clinical trial design, and non-invasive liver-disease assessment, he has helped establish MRI-PDFF as a treatment-response biomarker adopted in more than 100 trials worldwide. His NIH-, Foundation of NIH-, and industry-funded research investigates biomarkers, genetics, epidemiology, imaging endpoints, and integrated OMICs. He leads national MASH and cirrhosis research networks, holds biomarker patents, advises global drug-development programs, and has published 600+ manuscripts.
