Rotonya McCants Carr, MD, FACP, FAASLD is Senior Councilor of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), Cyrus E. Rubin Chair, and Division Head of Gastroenterology at the University of Washington. An NIH-funded scientist and clinical hepatologist, she specializes in metabolic dysfunction-associated and alcohol-associated liver disease. Her research focuses on lipid droplet biology, insulin resistance, and improving MASLD diagnosis and care using large clinical datasets. Dr. Carr earned her biology degree from Harvard and MD from Cornell University Medical College. She completed residency at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital and gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania.
